Recruitment agency founder believes consistency at work starts with wellbeing

In imaging and healthcare technology, where the pace can be high and the pressure is often real, consistency matters, according to founder of recruitment agency Ellew MedTech Talent Aidan Pearce. “In my experience, consistency starts with wellbeing,” he says. “Wellbeing is often talked about as if it sits to
one side of work. For me, it does not. It sits underneath it.

“One thing I have learned, sometimes the hard way, is that when my own mental wellbeing starts to slip, consistency usually goes with it. And once consistency goes, the quality of my work tends to follow. That is true whether I am running my own business or supporting people and companies in the radiology and digital imaging sector. Good work is rarely built on the odd productive day. More often, it comes from being able to show up consistently, think clearly and keep moving forward. That is why I do not see wellbeing as a soft topic. I see it as part of doing good work.”

Pearce says that environment makes a big difference and that working from home is not the best long-term option. “I know I work better when there is some separation between where I live and where I work. Having a defined place to focus helps me stay disciplined and more consistent,” he says. Without that boundary, work can drift and home life can start to feel the same way.

“At this time of year, I find that working from the beach or the New Forest in my camper van gives me the change of environment I need. It is not about escaping work. It is about creating the conditions to do it better. I also think we underestimate how important it is to see people. We are social creatures, yet it is easy to spend too much time behind screens and in our own heads. A conversation, a coffee, or simply being around other people can make more difference than we sometimes admit.”
