Royal Derby to replace remaining IR rooms after successful first installation

Royal Derby Hospital’s fluoroscopy department has had a modern interventional suite installed as part of a 10-year Althea managed service contract, which started in April 2015. An 11-year-old Philips FD20 has been upgraded to a state-of-the-art Philips Allura Xper FD20 with Clarity, giving the main x-ray area an interventional system that includes the latest in clinical functionality.
The x-ray room needed to be reconfigured ahead of the new system’s installation, removing previous functions that were only necessary for the old system and relocating power cabinets outside the room.
Cardiac superintendent radiographer Rob Whiteman said: “Althea supported our team through the selection, procurement and design processes for an IR suite to replace our ageing equipment.”
In the last year, 18 new systems have been delivered and installed at the hospital as part of Althea’s managed service asset replacement programme.
