RSNA 2019
RSNA 2019 was held at McCormick Place, Chicago from December 1-6.
The theme of the 105th scientific assembly and annual meeting of RSNA was ‘See possibilities together’. The importance of increased patient interaction was a key point in Dr Valerie Jackson’s presidential address. “For time-pressed radiologists, human connection reminds us of how critical our work is to real people and gets us back to our Hippocratic roots as physicians,” she said.
Head of the department of radiology at the University of Cambridge Dr Fiona Gilbert was made an RSNA honorary member. “Dr Gilbert is an internationally known expert in breast imaging, musculoskeletal radiology and quality assurance,” said Dr Jackson. “I am most aware of her many contributions to breast cancer imaging and possible treatments, which have the potential to significantly decrease breast cancer mortality.”
This year there were 740 technical exhibitors with 157 first time exhibitors. More than 1,600 scientific papers in 16 subspecialities were presented along with 440 education courses and six plenary sessions.
Next year’s meeting will be held from November 29 to December 4, 2020.
