emrad: Can technology solve workforce issues?

Imaging services within the NHS are in difficulty. There is a widely reported gap between demand for diagnostic imaging and high quality interpretation and capacity to provide this. This is due to a national workforce shortage that cannot quickly be remedied. This gap creates delays in many pathways that rely on imaging, including almost all cancer pathways. It can cause delays to care in inpatient settings, including the potential for delays leading to patient harms, as a result of incorrect interpretation by inexperienced clinical staff.
