Excerpt:

The move from hand-written notes to electronic health records (EHR) by health services across Europe is having significant effects on point of care. The rationale for making the move is compelling. EHRs can improve patient care significantly by providing clinicians with up-to-the-minute patient information at the bedside and by making that information accessible to their colleagues anywhere else in the service. And, unlike paper-based records, EHRs are far less likely to be mislaid, lost or stolen.
