Interventional breast radiology
Breast radiologists and advanced breast practitioners perform a large volume and wide range of interventional procedures, and there are great training opportunities for both the trainee radiologist and advanced practice radiographer, with patient contact and the development of skills transferable to other areas of radiological practice.
In this article I will describe the range of interventional methods used to diagnose and treat disease in the breast and axilla; how to select the correct procedure, modality and guidance technique for the presenting clinical situation; and describe the limitations of available techniques and possible complications.
