Introducing the new Ultrasound Infection Prevention Toolkit
With the increased use of ultrasound technology within healthcare settings, the potential risk of passing on infections is increased. It is important to see where this fits into infection prevention. In 1957 Earle Spaulding of Temple University wrote a paper on disinfection of surgical instruments. In it he proposed “a strategy for sterilisation or disinfection of inanimate objects and surfaces based on the degree of risk involved in their use” for the medical community.
