The cloak of invisibility

“You know he/she has special needs right? It’s on their file?”

This is a question that I find myself being asked on quite a regular basis by parents/carers. The presumption is that their child’s special needs has been highlighted on their records and therefore I know about it, so I can provide efficient care to their child. This could not be more false, especially in the case of invisible disabilities.
