Varicose vein clinics: a foot in the door for interventional radiologists
Endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) for the treatment of venous insufficiency and varicose veins is almost certainly the most common interventional radiological treatment performed in the UK. It is therefore, at first sight, puzzling that most of these procedures are carried out not by interventional radiologists, but by vascular surgeons. This article discusses the current situation, proposes greater implementation of EVLA clinics and details how this can be achieved.
