Spire Cardiff Hospital has equipped its imaging department with an Optima 450w MRI scanner with GEM suite from GE Healthcare.

Hospital lead MRI radiographer Zoe Lingham said: “Our new 1.5T MRI scanner is a wonderful addition to our state-of-the-art imaging department.  The user friendly scanner delivers high quality images, at an increased volume capacity, which has been welcomed by both the staff and consultants.  With a larger 70cm diameter bore we can easily accommodate most patients, and even the most claustrophobic of patients benefit from the feet first capability.

“The addition of the mood lighting, allows us to adjust the ambience of the room; patients have commented how they feel at ease in the scanning room, appreciating the relaxed atmosphere we intended to create with the installation of the lighting system.”
