State-of-the-art MRI at Bishop Auckland General

News

MP Helen Goodman (centre) officially opened the upgraded Alliance Medical Bishop Auckland MRI unit.  With her are Alliance Medical business development director David Loasby and unit manager Sylvia Waghorn.

An MRI scanner that provides valuable additional services has been officially unveiled at the Alliance Medical MRI unit at Bishop Auckland General Hospital by local MP Helen Goodman and County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust chairman Tony Waites.

In addition to providing high quality images, the 1.5T Siemens Avanto scanner will offer Bishop Auckland residents a more comprehensive range of scans.  New services such as scans of the liver and small bowel, breast and heart imaging and contrast enhanced angiography of blood vessels will be available, meaning local patients will no longer have to travel to Darlington for these scans.
