Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital, with the help of Alliance Medical, has invested in a permanent Toshiba Aquilion CXL CT scanner in order to improve its diagnostic capabilities.   Mayor of Cheltenham Councillor Wendy Flynn carried out the official opening of the system, a replacement for a mobile unit that previously served the hospital once a week. Scanning between eight and 12 patients a day, it will greatly increase the hospital’s diagnostic offering.

Hospital director Michelle Stone said: “We are excited to offer our patients access to some of the latest scanning technology through this £460,000 investment.  Those needing vital colon or cardiac scans will particularly benefit from the system, which allows simpler investigations of these parts of the body.”
