Sunderland upgrades

In the back row are advanced practitioner CT Jenny Graham, radiographer Dale Cowey, deputy imaging services manager Kathleen Lavell and Toshiba account executive David Bibbs. Seated are senior radiographer Barbara Aitchison and advanced practitioner, CT Cheryl Bean.

City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust recently purchased two Toshiba CT scanners, an Aquilion 64 for general use and an Aquilion CX for possible future cardiac work.

The CX has a 0.35 second rotation and a 72Kw generator, in addition to SURECardio prospective ECG gating.  Other packages include in-room controlled fluoroscopy, auto vessel measurement, calcium scoring, lung analysis software and cerebral brain perfusion.  The systems replaced two existing Toshiba scanners.

Commented deputy imaging services manager Kathleen Lavell: “The removal of the old scanners and installation of the new scanners was very smooth and efficient.”
