Surgeons welcome second mini C-arm

Pictured at the handover of a second C-arm are consultant in trauma and orthopaedics Mr James Casha, Vertec product specialist Keith Lakin, consultant in trauma and orthopaedics Mr Sharat Jain, associate specialist trauma and orthopaedics Mr Nitin Shah and chief executive East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust Stuart Bain.

Hologic says that two deliveries of Fluoroscan mini C-arms to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate just two months apart reflect the growing popularity of the system among orthopaedic surgeons, who value its ease of use and high image quality.

The money for the second Fluoroscan was raised by WRVS volunteers who run the shop in the Walmer outpatients department at the hospital.  Bain paid tribute: “I am very pleased to be able to accept this fantastic piece of equipment which I know the surgeons are keen to use in theatres, particularly in orthopaedics where we will be able to deliver ultra-fine low dose fluoroscopy images of joints taken during operations.  I thank the volunteers for all their work – it is greatly appreciated.”
