System on loan to Addenbrooke’s

Toshiba ultrasound sales specialist Wendy Egan with consultant radiologists, Professor David Lomas and Dr Lawrence Berman and Toshiba clinical specialist Sally Davey.
The latest version of the Toshiba Aplio XG has been installed on loan to Dr Laurence Berman of the University Department of Radiology at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.
Initially, it will be used for two projects. The first concerns the process of Achilles tendon healing following the Ponsetti procedure. This involves dividing the tendon at the heel as part of corrective surgery for club foot.
The second study involves assessment of atheromatous carotid plaque with ultrasound enhanced contrast imaging. The results will then be directly compared with MRI studies and pathological specimens obtained at carotid endartectomy. The comprehensive enhanced imaging and quantification package on the Aplio XG will be integral to this research.
