Teleconsult launches Relay: a plain film reporting solution built for clinical outcomes, operational pressure and quality assurance

Teleconsult, one of the UK’s fastest growing teleradiology providers, has launched Relay, a dedicated plain film reporting service designed to help NHS and independent providers respond to increasing imaging demand while maintaining the highest standards of clinical care.
Developed to support both elective and urgent plain film workloads, Relay offers a flexible, scalable solution that combines radiographer-led reporting with sub-specialist radiologist oversight. The service provides bespoke plain film x-ray reporting options, with turnaround times ranging from under one hour for urgent cases to 72 hours for routine elective studies.
In line with its commitment to innovation, Teleconsult is also preparing to roll out on-site reporting options as part of the Relay service, combining localised support with the benefits of teleradiology. This enhanced hybrid model is designed to offer the most adaptable reporting solution based on individual trust needs and operational pressures.
Built with outcomes at its core, Relay is designed to reduce delays, support faster diagnoses, and improve patient flow. All reports are completed by experienced, UK-registered reporters and supported by a robust governance framework, providing direct access to specialist consultants for escalation, second opinion, and structured audit. The service is delivered seven days a week by a fully remote, UK-based team with seamless integration into local RIS and PACS systems.
Teleconsult strategic partnerships manager Fodi Kyriakos said: “Relay was built around the challenges providers face daily, turnaround targets, workforce gaps, and clinical risk. But it’s not just about adding capacity. It’s about delivering safe, timely reports that lead to better outcomes.
“Everything in Relay is designed to facilitate that and, most importantly, help our customers strengthen their internal provision through educational support and workforce development programmes.”
Pilot implementations are set to begin at selected NHS sites in the coming weeks, with broader rollout planned via national frameworks.
