Touch screen makes cleaning simple in Sheffield

Northern General Hospital, part of the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has acquired a Philips Sparq portable ultrasound scanner for its emergency medicine department.
Said to be a popular choice for emergency medicine, one of the system’s main advantages is the sealed, tempered glass control panel that facilitates cleaning.
Dr Thomas Locker, consultant in emergency medicine and director of clinical academic research training, school of health and related research at University of Sheffield, said: “Having used a number of machines from different manufacturers in the past, we felt the Sparq was ideally suited to the emergency department environment. The simplicity mode is ideal for novice users, but does not limit what more advanced users can do.”
