Royal Philips has released an ultrasound solution for paediatric assessment, the latest addition for its Epiq Elite ultrasound system. The new solution is said to provide clinicians with exceptionally detailed images and the performance they need to make a definitive diagnosis for paediatric patients, reducing the need for additional diagnostic imaging steps, such as x-ray.
Designed specifically for paediatric clinical use, the system combines dedicated transducers, enhanced processing and software tools that are optimised for the paediatric diagnostic workflow to help improve the experience of young patients and staff. The new paediatric transducer offers 30 per cent greater penetration for more detailed images.
“The new paediatric assessment solution on the Epiq Elite system has elevated our ultrasound practice,” said paediatric radiologist at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Arizona, Dr Luis Goncalves. “In particular, the solution’s new transducer offers exceptional clinical performance and versatility across many paediatric applications. For example, the intracranial detail we see in the neonatal head is truly exceptional.”
Philips vice president and general manager general imaging ultrasound Jeff Cohen added: “Diagnostic confidence is vital for any clinician, especially when diagnosing the most sensitive patients. Philips ultimate ultrasound solutions provide the right level of image detail and context that clinicians need to make a precise diagnosis.”
