University of Cumbria radiography programmes

With more than 50 years in radiography education, the University of Cumbria says it remains at the forefront of delivering innovative, industry-focused programmes. Its legacy is built on academic excellence, professional expertise and a commitment to meeting the evolving needs of modern radiology services.

The Assistant Practitioner (Health) Radiography apprenticeship and the Diagnostic Radiography Degree Apprenticeship top-up for qualified assistant practitioners is approved by The College of Radiographers. These flexible, distance learning pathways have been designed in collaboration with NHS trusts and private healthcare providers, enabling radiology service managers to upskill their workforce efficiently and effectively.

Led by a team of experienced faculty members from a range of radiography and healthcare backgrounds, the programmes blend academic rigour with real-world relevance. Apprentices are able to benefit from personalised support, hands-on clinical experience and the opportunity to progress their careers without stepping away from the workplace.

“At a time when the healthcare sector faces increasing pressures and growing demand for diagnostic services, these apprenticeships offer a sustainable solution,” the university says. “They open doors for individuals to begin or advance their radiography careers, while enabling employers to nurture talent from within and future-proof their services.

“As we look to the future of radiographic practice, the University of Cumbria continues to lead the way in shaping a skilled, adaptable and resilient workforce.”
