Varian Medical Systems has signed an agreement to acquire an NHS-developed cancer care planning tool called R-PORT (radiation oncology planning online resource tool) which it intends to offer to oncology departments globally.
R-PORT was developed by the NHS and has been used to help control costs and manage electronic data. Varian Medical Systems will add this tool to its oncology services portfolio and develop and enhance it for worldwide use.
“R-PORT has helped oncology providers within the NHS network to model change management before incurring major costs,” explained Varian EMEA regional director of software sales Steve Laws. “It also measures the results and costs of change management for reporting purposes.”
