Radiographic department assistants Lynn Henderson and Carol-Ann Lonie, consultant radiologist Dr Gauri Babu, Toshiba Medical Systems ultrasound sales specialist Scott Couper, consultant radiologist Dr Ben Ward, Toshiba ultrasound applications specialist Laura McGibbon, clinical specialist sonographer Nicola Mason, consultant radiologist Dr Melanie Smith, superintendent radiographer Mandy Stewart and radiographic department assistant Rebecca King.

The mammography department at Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, has received two Aplio 500 ultrasound systems from Toshiba Medical Systems.

Delivered with shear wave software, the machines were chosen for their speed and image quality.  Lead sonographer Nicola Mason said: “We have never used Toshiba ultrasound systems before, however we have found the Aplio 500 an easy and ergonomic system to use, with good image quality.  We also found there is increased visualisation of the needle tip during biopsy which improves accuracy and reduces the need to repeat.  This also means the overall procedure is quicker.”
