Western General reduces dose

Jamie Douglas of the medical physics department, Philips UKI IGT sales specialist Simon Wilsdon, account manager for imaging systems, Scotland, Louise Jones, consultant radiologist Dr Simon Jackson and lead radiographer/PACS manager/clinical radiology Peter O’Byrne.
Western General Hospital, Edinburgh, has received an AlluraClarity FD20 from Philips UKI, with XperCT software and FlexVision XL screen. The system provides quality imaging for a comprehensive range of clinical procedures. The hospital selected the system for the image quality, the software options that are tailored to the hospital’s needs as an oncology site, and also the ability to use XperCT, as Western General Hospital is developing a service inserting Chait caecostomy tubes.
Lead interventional radiographer Gavin Loy said: “When we were looking to upgrade to a new system dose reduction was at the top of our list. ClarityIQ technology means we can reduce the dose to our patients and staff without having the usual trade off against image quality.”
