X-ray room speeds flow from ED at Glangwili General

When the team at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen, was looking to replace its emergency x-ray room, patient throughput, ease of use and image quality were primary requirements. Staff looked at the equipment on offer from various manufacturers before choosing the Samsung GC85 DR suite as the unit that would deliver on requirements.

Site lead superintendent radiographer Peter Davies said: “Staff are delighted with their new x-ray room, which allows a much higher throughput of patients via the very busy emergency department. The improved flexibility of the new DR unit allows examinations to be undertaken on the room’s table and upright detectors as well as on emergency trolleys, resulting in reduced radiation dose and improved image quality.”

Samsung’s exclusive UK partner MIS Healthcare supported the installation and training process to ensure the health board could obtain the full benefit of the equipment. The GC85 features fully automated movement and exposures based on full integration of its APR and RIS systems.
