GE Healthcare has performed its first Signa Explorer Lift upgrade in the UK, transforming an old Signa HD MRI system at North Manchester General Hospital.  The upgrade enables the hospital to reset the life of its GE MRI by using the existing magnet, representing up to 50 per cent savings in hardware and construction.  The project took six weeks to complete all works.

“We decided to upgrade our existing Signa HD with Signa Explorer through the Lift program to reduce the cost of a new MRI,” said MR service manager Andrew Green.  “The objective was to prolong the lifespan of the equipment and to be able to offer a wider range of applications capabilities for our patients.  We are extremely happy with the whole experience.”
