Professor Penelope Engel-Hills with successful bursary applicant Elizabeth Olanloye from Nigeria.

The World Radiography Educational Trust Foundation (WRETF) has supported a second educational visit to the state-of-the-art radiation oncology department of Professor Penelope Engel-Hills at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa.  Part-funded by a WRETF travel bursary, Elizabeth Olanloye from Oyo State, Nigeria, experienced an enlightening visit where she received practical training in radiotherapy practices.

This bursary award was the first one made possible through funding received from the Middlesex Hospital Schools of Radiography History Trust under the leadership of Adrienne Finch.  The history trust was set up in memory of Dame Marion Frank and Finch said: “Marion would have been absolutely delighted that the first bursary should go to a Nigerian radiographer visiting such a distinguished South African hospital to learn therapy techniques that are so readily transferable to her hospital.”
