Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s MRI department installs GE Signa Voyager 1.5T with AIR Coil

The team at the MRI department at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are delighted to have recently integrated the GE Healthcare Signa Voyager 1.5T system into the department, which is the first magnet of this kind in the UK to have the new AIR Technology. The system enables the department to deliver superior diagnostic imaging while increasing productivity, halving set-up and table times with AIR Touch, enhancing patient experience while boosting IQ with the first-of-its-kind in the UK ultra-light and hyper-flexible 16ch AA AIR coil and further improving IQ without added time with the intelligent built-in reconstruction algorithm AIR Recon, while reducing scan time with HyperWorks.

Hazel Hurst, MRI modality lead radiographer at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: “Having worked with GE equipment for some time, it is fantastic to have the next generation of GE MRI magnet installed in Bedford.  The image quality is superb, and the scanner will enable us to continue to provide an excellent diagnostic service, ensuring the best possible outcome for our patients.”

The design of the GE Signa Voyager clearly has patient comfort at its centre. It has a light 4lb 16ch AA AIR Coil which promotes a sense of calm with its blanket-like, comfortable design. The response from returning patients passing through the department has been excellent, with several commenting on the improved environment.

Furthermore, the radiographer’s experience has been vastly improved by the new systems, giving them more time to focus on the patient instead of interacting with the scanner.
