Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, has recently completed a GE Healthcare Signa Artist Lift upgrade on its existing GE Optima MR450w GEM system.  This enables the system to be upgraded to the latest Signa Artist XT with 128CH RF-receive channels and SignaWorks productivity platform to include AIR Recon DL .

“We are very excited to be the first hospital in Wales and the second NHS hospital in the UK to receive the GE Artist upgrade which includes the new innovative software AIR Recon DL. It delivers clinical versatility, comfort and consistently superior image quality. AIR Recon DL package is a pioneering, deep-learning based reconstruction neural network applied to the raw scan data to improve Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and image sharpness, while reducing or even removing ringing artefacts. The scan times are greatly reduced allowing for faster throughout. Patients can now be seen more quickly at the Princess of Wales Hospital.” – Sharon Donovan, radiology services manager.

“Our MRI team are already seeing the substantial benefits of the GE Artist upgrade, not only has the new software improved image quality but it has also shortened scan times which is resulting in a higher throughput of patients. This new way of working is already having a positive impact on our waiting times.” – Claire Wells, MRI superintendent radiographer.
