Hinchingbrooke improves hygiene of CT procedures with ProBelt and table cover

Hinchingbrooke Hospital’s CT department has received Pearl Technology’s ProBelt positioning aid and CT Table Cover, supplied by Wolverson X-ray.
With recent higher demands for hygiene and infection control requirements, positioning aids must withstand the frequent use of strong disinfectants, which can affect the CT table mattress and accessories.
Following an examination, thorough and quick disinfection must be possible, especially in an emergency environment or with infectious patients.
The ProBelt enables smooth examination procedures by offering safe and comfortable patient positioning. Made of a hard-wearing PU foil it allows patients to be fixed completely without hook and loop fastening, making it easier to wipe clean.
The CT Table Cover is a protective sleeve made of durable PU foil and is available for various makes of equipment. It is easy to clean and the side flaps protect the table and mat from liquids, dirt and damage.
CT lead radiographer Emily Smith commented: “The CT Table Cover was very easy to fit, robust and withstands bleaching, which is needed in a CT room. We previously had the cover that came with the CT scanner. After many years of hard wear and tear it was time for a replacement. This cover helps our daily work as it assists with sliding patients, having a smooth cover for the slide sheets, and also to keep the room clean and reduce cross contamination from patients. The ProBelt is much more hygienic and allows for safe restraint of patients.”
