Derriford Hospital, part of Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, is celebrating the first anniversary of its Primrose Breast Care Centre transitioning from analogue to digital systems.  The transformation included the installation of four Mammomat Inspiration full field digital mammography systems from Siemens Healthcare.

Two systems are based in the breast imaging department and are used for screening assessments and symptomatic work, one is based in the breast screening unit at Plymouth’s Guildhall while a fourth is a mobile unit used at various locations.

“The key benefit for staff and patients is that images can be seen straight away, helping to streamline workflow and improve patient comfort,” said superintendent radiographer breast imaging Diana Nicholson.
