Glasses-free 3D display from Barco helps patients to visualise complex findings

Barco Eonis 3D

Barco has launched Eonis 3D, a medical grade 3D display that requires no accessories such as 3D glasses or headsets. The company says that traditional 2D imaging can leave patients struggling to interpret complex visuals, which can lead to confusion and lower opt-in rates for procedures. 3D visualisation without accessories like special glasses can help make consultations clearer and more engaging in an accessible way.

“An immersive 3D experience can support patients in understanding their condition,” Barco says. “Augmented reality through glasses-free 3D visualisation transforms how clinicians and patients experience medical imaging: consultations, surgical planning sessions and educational moments can become more immersive, intuitive and impactful than before.”

The monitor allows seamless switching between 2D and 3D on its standard size 27″ screen, making it suitable for everyday tasks such as emailing as well. Engineered as a class I medical grade display, Eonis 3D combines technology with reliability. “Whether for surgical planning, educational sessions or routine consultations, the display helps elevate the way clinicians and patients interact with medical images,” Barco adds.

Barco offers a bundled package with Avatar Medical Vision 3D software, delivering an integrated experience for next level visualisation. Using Barco’s glasses-free autostereoscopic display, Avatar Medical’s software converts CT and MR scans into spatially accurate, lifelike 3D anatomical avatars with no headset or specialised goggles. Eonis Vision combines high speed rendering with seamless workflow integration.

Launched directly from a patient’s medical record, it retrieves imaging studies instantly and transforms them into interactive 3D anatomy without altering existing clinical routines.
