Network aims to amplify women’s contributions to the imaging and health technology sector

Last year, during AXREM’s International Women’s Day event at the Florence Nightingale Museum at St Thomas’s Hospital, London, a clear and powerful
message emerged: women across the medical imaging and healthcare technology sector wanted a dedicated space to connect, be heard and lead change. That call to action has shaped the year that followed and, today, it becomes reality.
AXREM is proud to announce the launch of the AXREM Women’s Network, a platform designed to elevate the voices, experiences and leadership of women across our sector. This initiative reflects not only the momentum generated at last year’s gathering, but also AXREM’s long-standing commitment to inclusivity, representation and sector transformation.
The network will officially launch in Parliament this March, coinciding with International Women’s Day, a symbolic and fitting moment to begin this next chapter. We are honoured that the event will be hosted by Samantha Niblett MP for South Derbyshire, founder of Labour Women in Tech and a passionate advocate for gender equity in STEM. Her support reinforces the significance of this milestone for AXREM members and the wider health technology community.
The network has been created with a clear purpose: to champion gender equity, amplify women’s contributions and foster a culture where collaboration and innovation thrive. It will provide a vibrant space for connection, mentorship and professional development tailored to women working across medical imaging, radiotherapy, digital pathology, teleradiology and healthcare IT.
Our objectives are intentionally ambitious. We aim to create an inspiring environment where women can share experiences, shape industry dialogue and access leadership development opportunities that support career progression. We will spotlight the achievements of women across the sector, advocate for equitable representation in leadership and procurement, and build partnerships that strengthen our collective impact. The network will also prioritise wellbeing and belonging, recognising the importance of emotional support, storytelling and peer connection.
Membership is open to all employees of AXREM member organisations who identify as women, as well as allies committed to advancing gender equity. We also welcome engagement from external stakeholders including professional bodies, royal colleges, government departments, charities and partner organisations, because meaningful progress requires collaboration across the entire health and care landscape.
The network will meet at least twice a year, with working groups convened to deliver specific initiatives such as roundtables, webinars, thought leadership and creative programmes. The AXREM Women’s Network marks a deliberate and important progression in our sector’s journey toward greater equity and representation. AXREM is committed to helping ensure this work delivers real impact.
