This book is a comprehensive guide to MSK ultrasound for evaluating the upper limb. It focuses on practical, step-by-step instructions for performing ultrasound examinations, interpreting findings and understanding the relevant anatomy and pathology of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand.

Each chapter is concise, with detailed descriptions of anatomy and guidance on how to interrogate each specific area of anatomy, with images of probe placement and the correlating ultrasound image.

It is designed for a wide range of healthcare professionals who are wanting to expand their scope of practice and learn how to perform MSK ultrasound of the upper limb. However, due to the examples of a wide range of pathologies it is also an excellent reference for experienced practitioners.

The content and structure are excellently organised with clear chapters for each key section of the upper limb that then focuses on anatomy and probe positioning to be able to competently interrogate the area of interest.

The detail of the anatomy includes muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and joints. The emphasis is on understanding how these structures appear on ultrasound and how to distinguish normal variations from pathological changes, with the aid of high quality illustrations.

Each chapter also gives an insight into interventional procedures and the benefits of each and offers alternative causes for MSK pain in the upper limb that may not be considered in practice.

The illustrations are a great asset to this book. The labelling and annotations were a little overwhelming in parts, which required multiple references to further back in the text.

However, for those who interested in learning how to perform ultrasound of the upper limb or for a quick refresher of anatomy for those that are experienced, this book is definitely worth considering.
