Dr Struan Wilkie becomes clinical director at Medica as it acquires Axon Diagnostics

Dr Struan Wilkie

Dr Struan Wilkie has joined Medica Group as clinical director, bringing experience in clinical leadership having served as clinical director at Axon Diagnostics from 2021 and medical director from 2022. Prior to this, he was unit clinical director for medicine and unscheduled care at Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin, Scotland.

Medica Group completed its acquisition of Axon Diagnostics earlier this year.

Dr Wilkie began his career studying biochemistry at the University of Dundee before completing his medical degree there. Following surgical training, he undertook radiology training in Aberdeen and completed higher specialist training in cardiothoracic and musculoskeletal radiology.

Appointed consultant radiologist at Dr Gray’s Hospital in 2013, he became clinical lead for radiology IT in 2014. In this role, he contributed to national groups focused on PACS, advanced practice and AI, is a clinical adviser to the North of Scotland iCAIRD programme and serves on the committee of the Scottish Radiological Society.

As clinical director of Medica, he will support the continued development of safe, high quality diagnostic services, with a particular focus on governance, innovation and responsible application of AI in the clinical environment.
