Teleradiology company CMO encourages Hastings students to explore careers in healthcare

Teleradiology company Medica’s group chief medical officer visited a school in Hastings to inspire students to consider careers where they can make a real difference.
Dr Annabel Bentley delivered a session at Mulberry St Leonards Academy, sharing her experiences working in medicine and encouraging pupils to explore a future in healthcare. She told students about her journey, from surgical training in the late 1990s to her current role as a teleradiology leader, and highlighted the wide range of opportunities available across the sector.
During the session, students were given an insight into how modern medicine is evolving. Dr Bentley explained how advances in imaging, such as CT scanning, are helping doctors make faster decisions and, in some cases, avoid the need for surgery. She spoke about the challenges facing the NHS, including increasing demand and workforce pressures, and outlined the role organisations like Medica play in supporting timely diagnosis and treatment.
After the session, Dr Bentley said: “I was reminded why it’s so important to engage young people early. The level of curiosity and ambition in the room was fantastic to see, and it’s clear the future of healthcare is in very good hands.”
The session formed part of the school’s Medicine Society, which is part of a wider programme to support students in exploring future education and career options.
A spokesperson for Mulberry St Leonards Academy said: “Visits like this help bring career pathways to life for our students and give them a clearer understanding of opportunities within different sectors.”
