Skilled Personnel Course

The University of Suffolk in Ipswich was the venue for this year’s Society of Radiographers (SoR) Eastern Region Annual Radiographer Study Day. Skilled Personnel were proud to be the lead sponsor for the event, which brought together both diagnostic and therapeutic radiographers, demonstrating once again the enormous value of bringing our professional groups together to learn, share experiences and reflect on the challenges, as well as the opportunities, ahead.

The event was attended by founder, Fodi Kyriakos, who presented a session on the Radiographer 3.0 Training Programme to delegates. He was joined by an expert panel of speakers, including the current president of the SoR, Rachel Nolan; radiography training programme lead for the East of England Imaging Academy, Emma Law; therapy radiographer and event organiser, Connor Parish; and consultant radiographer in nuclear medicine, Rose Hazell-Evans.

Kyriakos said: “It was a deeply engaging and thoroughly enjoyable day spent with incredibly talented radiographers from across all touchpoints of radiography. I had the privilege of presenting Radiographer 3.0 to delegates and sharing the inspirational journeys of Rachel, Emma, Connor and Rose, each with their own unique outlook on the future of radiography.

“We explored some of the human elements that can make such a difference to our working lives: kindness in the workplace, career coaching and leadership and empowerment of radiographers.

“The conversations reinforced something I continue to see wherever I meet radiographers: there is an extraordinary amount of talent, experience and passion across our profession. The challenge is ensuring people have the support, confidence and opportunities to realise that potential, and then translate this into influence at a healthcare-wide level.

“Sponsoring and attending events like this gives us the opportunity to listen to stories and experiences from the frontline and understand the pressures that radiographers are experiencing, so that we can continually fine tune the practical CPD we provide on the Skilled Personnel Network around what learning and development needs, the profession is looking for.”

If the radiography workforce is to continue evolving, we need to invest not only in technology and clinical advancement, but also in the CPD of our people, the development of our leaders, the wellbeing of our workforce and the strength of our professional communities.

That, ultimately, is how Radiographer 3.0 has been designed: bringing CPD and education together with a growing professional community through a shared networking platform.
