Investment in breast imaging brings equipment additions

Capital investments at the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have helped bring its breast imaging service up-to-date.  The service at the Norfolk hospital was the first in the region to go fully digital in 2009 and investments of more than £200,000 have been made recently.

A SuperSonic Imagine Aixplorer is being used for the ultrasound examination of all breast patients needing further investigation and the service also has a new Hologic Sapphire breast biopsy and excision system.

Head of breast imaging Barbara McCaffrey said: “We are really delighted with the equipment.  We were the first all-digital service in the east of England and work hard to keep the service up-to-date.”
