Cutting the ribbon at Guildford Diagnostic Imaging Centre are Alliance Medical business development director David Loasby, journalist and BBC News presenter Nicholas Owen, Alliance Medical chief operating officer Keith Search and unit manager Gillian Rollo.

News presenter and kidney cancer survivor Nicholas Owen joined staff from Alliance Medical and Siemens as the Guildford Diagnostic Imaging Centre launched the only private PETCT scanner in Surrey.

Housed at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, the Siemens Biograph mCT scanner will service private as well as NHS patients from around the south east, reducing the need for many private patients to travel into London for PETCT scans.

Being a fast scanner, it is expected to shorten waiting times for patients and provide increased capacity to meet future demand.
