Breast screening service relies on maintenance program

News

Pictured at a follow-up visit by Hologic to the new static breast screening unit at Broadgreen Hospital, following the installation of two Hologic Selenia Dimensions digital mammography systems, are Hologic regional business manager UK Andrew Hatton, radiographer Lynn Dooley, radiographer/clinical trainer Pauline Smith, superintendent radiographer Ali Guest, Hologic breast health sales specialist Kevin Owens, assistant practitioner Lucy Stenton and radiographer Sheela Edwin.

The unit began its contract with Hologic service last year.  With the level of demand, service and maintenance of the equipment needs to be quick and reliable to reduce downtime, as Ali Guest explained: “On a normal day, we have no spare capacity for any unscheduled equipment downtime.  We need to have breakdowns fixed in the minimum time to avoid cancelling the appointments of the women who are coming for breast screening.  In addition, routine maintenance visits need to be organised well in advance, and any scheduled shut downs must go ahead as planned.”
