University Hospital of North Tees has unveiled a Somatom Definition Flash from Siemens Healthcare in its radiology department.  It was chosen for its ability to provide low dose imaging without compromising on image quality, which is expected to benefit the hospital’s critically ill patients and paediatric provision.

Clinical director for radiology Dr Matthew Trewhella said: “Previously the only way we would have been able to look at heart arteries would have been to take an x-ray, by inserting a tube into the body and into the coronary arteries, but this scanner gives us detailed images of the heart without the need to insert any tubes.”
