Standing spine examinations are quicker at Spire Alexandra

Spire Alexandra Hospital’s recently acquired Toshiba Ultimax-i x-ray fluoroscopy system is expanding the range of examinations on offer at the Kent private hospital.
“We find it a very easy machine to use,” said radiographer Haran Bains. “It gives us the opportunity to offer a wider range of examinations than before. It not only reduces the time spent by patients in the room, but there is a significant reduction in dose. We mainly use the system for fluoroscopy and conventional radiography.
“We have a few consultants who request standing spines and pelvises, and with the new machine it takes a fraction of the time it usually does in a general radiography room and, as a result, images are of even quality.”
