Bristol Royal Hospital for Children has acquired a Philips DigitalDiagnost Flex Wireless digital x-ray system with geometry that allows the detector to be positioned freely around the patient.  The Flex room configuration provides a multi-purpose system able to perform the applications of a two detector room set-up with one flexible fixed detector.

Superintendent radiographer Elin Jones said: “We selected the Philips equipment for its low dose imaging, a key consideration in paediatric studies.  We have been particularly impressed with the 40kV technique in extremity imaging for very young children.  This technique produces high quality images in an area that is traditionally very difficult to image.

“We find the system very adaptable and easy to use, also important for paediatrics.  We are especially pleased with the spine and whole leg stitching unit.  Our paediatric patients are not intimidated by the unit and the quality of the images is superb.”
