Kidderminster’s CT speeds throughput

Kiddermister Hospital has celebrated the first year of operation of its state-of-the-art Aquilion CXL CT scanner.  The hospital exchanged an old Toshiba four-slice system for the latest one.  Superintendent radiographer Tina Wooldridge said: “The only downtime has been for a broken contrast injector, so we are very pleased with its reliability.  Time-out for service has also been reduced compared to our previous scanner.”

She added: “Since its installation we have scanned more than 6,300 patients, which equates to over 10,000 examinations.  This has shown an increase in throughput of 17 per cent compared to our old scanner and there have been no changes in practice or scanning hours.”
