UKRC 2015 in Liverpool included a session on demand and capacity planning for CT, MRI, radiographer and radiologist reporting.  Attended by more than 100 delegates, it was moderated by consultant radiologist Dr Neelam Dugar from Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Trust.

International sales manager at Canon Europa – Medical Imaging Group Paul Oostindie discussed how the RIS can provide a predictive insight into capacity versus demand for day-to-day operations in real-time.  He showed how reaching goals using existing information can be achieved within the daily routine of the department and that a RIS is a rich source of business intelligence if mined appropriately.  He used an example of a Canon RIS installation – Zillion RIS and Zillion Read – managed and maintained by Intuitive Systems and Networks, the UK RIS/PACS distributor for Canon, to demonstrate his point.
