Addenbrooke’s Hospital A&E department has taken delivery of a seventh set of TraumaTransfer mattresses, including a TraumaTransfer Mini for paediatrics. This device is used throughout Europe and has been in use at Addenbrooke’s for more than seven years. Available in the UK from Wolverson X-Ray Limited, TraumaTransfer mattresses are designed for safe immobilisation and transfer of trauma patients from patient trolleys to CT, x-ray or an MRI table. Because the board is optimised for x-ray, once the patient is secured onto the padded board they can be transferred by sliding the mattress across, reducing the number of staff required for a patient transfer.
