Advances in PETCT are helping achieve better treatment options
When it comes to life-saving diagnostic imaging, accessibility and innovation are paramount.
Alliance Medical says it has been a pivotal player in supporting the NHS in expanding its PETCT network over the past decade. “We have improved access to diagnostic and cancer pathways for hundreds of thousands of patients across England, as well as introducing cutting-edge digital PETCT technology, combining lower radiation exposure for patients with superior image quality,” the company says. PETCT scanning can improve patient treatment and outcomes and reduce the cost burden on the healthcare system through facilitating early diagnosis and treatment.
Beyond oncology
“PETCT is also revolutionising the diagnosis and treatment of a range of indications beyond oncology, from brain and cardiac conditions, to autoimmune inflammatory diseases and paediatric care,” Alliance Medical adds. As the national PETCT contract holder for NHS England, Alliance Medical is dedicated to supporting these advancements and contributing to research into Alzheimer’s and other neurological conditions. “We continue to make significant investment in our scanning facilities and our five radiopharmaceutical units, ensuring the manufacture and distribution of PET radiopharmaceuticals across our network and beyond.”
But, the company says, the journey does not end here: “We will continue to drive progress in PETCT alongside our NHS partners, and ensure that more patients than ever access these life-saving and life-extending scans wherever it is clinically relevant.”
