Anubix aims to remove stigma of post-mortem imaging through dedicated clinic and training

Anubix is aiming to provide innovative, compassionate and expert-led post-mortem services. The company says its mission is to ensure that post-mortem imaging is accessible, equitable and supportive for families and professionals. Its multi- disciplinary team includes experts in radiology, pathology, forensic science, AI development and bereavement care.

According to consultant radiologist Dr Natasha Davendralingam and consultant paediatric radiologist Dr Susan Shelmerdine: “Our holistic approach includes post-mortem teleradiology reporting, peer review to maintain high quality standards, secondary reporting to assist new local services, and consulting on the set-up of post-mortem imaging services.

“In addition, we offer comprehensive education and training. By addressing all aspects of post-mortem imaging care, we aim to support coronial jurisdictions, healthcare providers and families as they navigate the complexities surrounding death with compassion and transparency.”

The After Life Imaging Clinic (ALIC) in Harley Street, London, was recently launched, in recognition of the Day of the Dead. ALIC provides a dedicated space where families can meet with radiologists to review post-mortem imaging, gain insights into the findings and receive guidance from bereavement counsellors.

The Anubix Mini Prime Fellowship offers online foundational training in post-mortem imaging for radiologists and radiographers. Its virtual format makes it accessible to professionals worldwide and, through the Anubix Academy scholarship programme, four radiologists from low and middle income countries have been able to participate, bringing expertise to underserved regions.

Death dummies
The Dead Serious CT imaging workshop uses death dummies.

Dead Serious is an in-person practical post-mortem CT training course for radiographers. It combines hands-on experience with ‘death dummies’ in performing CT examinations with a workshop addressing the emotional challenges of working with the deceased. This provides a supportive training environment to prepare participants for the realities of post-mortem imaging.

A podcast series, Beyond Death, highlights the critical work of professionals across the death care sector and explores the compassionate efforts behind the scenes.

Anubix regularly hosts wellness events as well, to support death industry professionals and families.
