Blackpool achieves QSI approval

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been accredited by ISAS since 2011 and has now qualified for its replacement the Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI) 2019.

Blackpool says it was the first NHS trust to receive accreditation and is one of a small group of trusts to have been accredited by UKAS. Maintaining this standard for so long is testament to the dedication of the radiology team.

Benefits of being accredited include reassurance for patients that the service has achieved the desired standard of care and has a commitment to quality assurance and quality improvement. It also benefits staff as the trust says it focuses on engaging with teams to make the department “a great place to work.” It provides reassurance to the trust that the department’s performance is being regularly monitored against a standard of best practice.

“Working to the standard and focusing on the five domains – leadership; clinical; facilities and resources; patient experience; and safety – enables us to have a  structured and focused approach to governance and improvement projects,” said a spokesperson. “Maintaining accreditation with QSI is part of our everyday work, so we are already working towards our next submission.”
