Blackrock Health announces €16m investment in a new dedicated women’s health centre

Blackrock Health, combining Blackrock, Hermitage, Galway and Limerick Clinics, has announced €16 million investment in a new dedicated women’s health centre which will be named Blackrock Health Womens Health Centre. The centre will be the most comprehensive private, consultant-led women’s health centre of its kind in Ireland. Planning permission was granted recently for the state-of-the-art facility which will be located at 2-5 Warrington Place, Dublin 2. The new Blackrock Health Womens Health Centre is due to open in Autumn 2025 and will create 50 new jobs. 

With the capacity to offer 340 outpatient appointments per day, the centre will provide convenient access to a comprehensive range of consultant-led and allied health services in an environment designed exclusively around the needs of women. 

Commenting on the announcement, Dr Caroline Whelan, group CEO of Blackrock Health said, “Blackrock Health has been caring for the people of Ireland for 40 years with a range of healthcare services backed by its clinical expertise, underpinned with world-class care.  We understand the health concerns of the nation, how they have evolved and why now is the time to deliver care that is tailored to women.  That is why we are so proud to invest €16 million to open the Blackrock Health Women’s Health Centre, offering holistic care that treats the healthcare issues that are specific to women, specifically for women.” 

The centre will offer an extensive array of specialist services, including consultant-led clinics in gynaecologyurologybreast health, endocrinologygastroenterologypain medicinecardiologydermatologyplastics and aestheticspsychology and psychotherapyhealth screening, and rheumatology. These services will be complemented by a full suite of allied health offerings, including physiotherapy, urodynamics, phlebotomy, and advanced radiology diagnostics including DEXA scanning, mammography, and ultrasound. 

By bringing together a comprehensive range of services under one roof, managed by a single, dedicated team of experts, the centre will provide not only expanded access to vital care but will also deliver an integrated healthcare service for women. It aligns with the Women’s Health Action Plan 2024-2025, to address critical gaps in current services, providing much-needed specialist care, supporting public services and empowering women to take control of their health journey.

The investment by Blackrock Health Group in women’s health is in addition to the landmark €500 million investment announced in September 2024.
