Blackrock Health introduces the first Spectral CT 7500 in Ireland

Blackrock Health has made a €1.5m investment in the Philips Spectral CT 7500 at its Galway clinic. The system provides advanced diagnostic capabilities through a single spectral scan, enabling accurate diagnoses and reducing treatment times. It serves radiology, cardiology, oncology, neurology and emergency/trauma care.
The Spectral CT 7500 is said to enable diagnosis times up to 34 per cent faster, minimising the need for repeat and follow-up scans, while ensuring lower radiation doses. The detector-based scanner also offers superior tissue and lesion visualisation.
Clinic consultant radiologist Dr Declan Sheppard said: “This investment in advanced technology is effectively a game changer for how we scan patients, get results and identify the subsequent course of treatment if applicable. The spectral functionality of the new CT optimises diagnostic accuracy by allowing for better tissue and contrast characterisation and allows for substantially faster scanning, while simultaneously allowing for lower radiation dose imaging and the use of smaller volumes of contrast media.”
CEO Cecilia McGrath added: “This investment is part of a multi-million development plan for Galway Clinic that will take the medical care and technology to another level for our medical care team and, most importantly, our patients.
