Composed of micro-anatomical structures and coupled with complex pathology, head and neck anatomy and imaging is often considered the final frontier for radiologists. This is the textbook that aims to help radiologists, trainee radiologists, head and neck surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists and medical students demystify this area of  anatomy.

Written by a renowned group of American head and neck radiologists, the book boasts more than 900 high resolution cross-sectional images (CT, MRI, PETCT, ultrasound) with corresponding colourful and beautifully drawn diagrams. Comprising 609 pages, it is organised into nine sections: the face, nose and sinuses, orbits, temporal bone, skull base, oral cavity, suprahyoid and infrahyoid neck, cranial nerves and spine. Useful new chapters have been incorporated into this edition, which include the external nose anatomy, facial nerve in the temporal bone, minor fissures and sutures around the temporal bone and temporal bone anatomy (using the latest photon-counting detector CT).

Unique selling points of the book are the ease of readability due to enlarged illustrations (compared to the first edition) and clinical emphasis.

The latter is particularly important as head and neck anatomy minutiae without clinical relevance is often difficult to master.

While heftily priced at £212.99 RRP, the textbook does include an ebook version allowing access to the textbook plus a search function that will help especially when wanting to find or cross-reference a particular micro-anatomical structure at speed.

In summary, this richly illustrated and well written radiological anatomical textbook is highly recommended for specialists and aspiring specialists in the head and neck world.
